Things I'd Tell My Younger-self

I think in the past year I have really done a shed load of growing up. I look at my life different and I act different. I thought today I would share with you guys a few little things I wish I had known when I was younger!

Friends come and go..
I held onto my friends with both hands as we were growing up. I was so sure that we would all be friends forever and do everything together. When we grew apart I felt like it was all my fault and took it to heart. To be really honest I am so glad the people aren't in my life now.

Not knowing what you want is fine..
I had no idea what I wanted from my life, people would ask and I had nothing to say. Everyone I knew had a set plan of uni or traveling and I had nothing. Turns out me not having a plan has lead to more amazing things.

You being you is the best..
I was an emo growing up. All black, skinny jeans band tees. I got a lot of "you look weird" & "why are you not normal" I did take it to heart BUT I didn't change for anyone, I guess I just felt un-normal to everyone. Looking back now I did have a lot of balls and I was normal for myself in my crazy way.

Enjoy being young..
I was crazy when I was in my young teenage years. I was always out making mischief and just being young. I then wanted to grow up faster and I did. I'm not saying that girl is gone now but I wish I had lived my younger years not trying to grow up!

What would you tell your younger self?

  1. agreed about the friends part. As I grew up, I got tired of being the only one making an effort, so I let go. It's all good, we are all doing our own thing now :)

  2. Totally agree with the friends thing. I went through a bad stage with a friendship group & it made me realise that if you have to make so much effort to try and hold on to something, it's not worth having. I'm so much happier for it now!

  5. I think we're all always in a rush to grow up and then when we do get a bit older we miss the younger days. I think we've literally just got to live in the moment and like you say enjoy being young! x http://coffeeatmidnight13.blogspot.co.uk/

  6. Great post! I was in a rush to grow up, especially to leave school and didn't realise what a good time it was in my life! Also, I held on to people with both hands that I would have been better throwing as far as I could haha! Everything works out in the end I guess :)

  7. This has to be the best compilation of 'things to tell your younger self' I've come across in quite a while! I particularly love the concept of understanding friends will come and go, as well as feeling comfortable with not always knowing where you're heading :)

  9. Love this! I would probably tell myself that everything would be OK. I grew up on Guam with my dad's side of the family. Moving to America meant moving across the world from them. I still miss them every single day, but thankfully we're able to keep in touch with the help of technology.

  18. I like to joke that I'm still young, and I believe in all of this. I want to enjoy being young, I want to enjoy myself and life and be real and human. It's scary to think we're growing up...Gahhh...I still wish I knew so much even though I shouldn't. Love this post <3

  19. Wow loved this post and it brought back memories of my younger self ha,ha! I used to love band tees and had a Slipknott one I'd wear all the time <3 I also loved Iron Fist and dyed my hair every colour you could imagine :) allot has changed over the years but we all change for the better and it's those memories that we hold on too and remember we never changed for no one! It's always hard as you do get judged but if you feel happy that's all that matters xx
